Who is Liz Jones?
Liz is a true Dunstablian — born and bred, and proud to have lived her entire life in the town she loves. Married to Iain, Liz’s home life is filled with laughter thanks to her two fun‑loving dogs, who never fail to keep her on her toes, family and her close circle of friends.
Liz became a Town Councillor in 2009, and in 2014, became Deputy Mayor for the first time, when she created Liz Jones Community — a social media platform on Facebook, designed to celebrate the history of the Mayor of Dunstable and strengthen her connection with local residents. Her aim was simple: to share stories, promote civic pride, and make the role of Mayor more visible and accessible to everyone.
Public service runs deep in Liz’s family. For more than 70 years, her relatives have served as councillors and Mayors of Dunstable. Liz proudly became the third generation and fourth member of her family to hold this prestigious office — continuing a remarkable legacy of dedication to the town and its people.

Liz Jones – A Life of Community and Civic Pride
In May 2015, Liz became Mayor of Dunstable for a twelve‑month term — a year that would leave a lasting mark on the town. Through her Facebook page, Liz documented her journey, sharing heartfelt stories, photographs, and reflections from every event she attended. Residents and local businesses quickly connected with her genuine enthusiasm, and Liz became widely recognised for her deep love of the community.
When her year as Mayor came to an end, Liz asked residents whether she should keep her page going — the response was a resounding yes! What began as a record of her mayoral year evolved into a vibrant online space celebrating Dunstable’s people, history, and civic life.
Liz brings a wealth of knowledge about the role of Mayor, the traditions and protocols that surround it, and the pride that defines the town. Her compassion and commitment shine through everything she does — Liz truly lives and breathes to help others.
Since 2015, Liz has worked tirelessly to build strong partnerships with charities and local organisations. She devotes countless hours each week to good causes and is always the first to reach for her purse to make a donation. Liz has been instrumental in securing grant funding for multiple organisations from a couple of hundred pounds to 000’s of pounds. Her passion for fundraising has helped raise more than £225,000 for local charities and community projects.
Over many years, Liz has been the go to person for support, advise and encouragement. She has built long-lasting relationships with business owners, organisations and charitable groups, and is recognised as a trusted adviser and someone who will give an honest answer.
Liz’s creative approach to fundraising is legendary — from her 24‑hour Dartathon in 2022, to her Town Mayor’s Charity 8k Run, her 14‑hour Picklethon with the Dunstable Hunters Pickleball Club, and her annual Mayoral Golf Days, which attract players from across the country. Today, she continues to lead the Hospice at Home Volunteers Golf Day each year, combining sport, friendship, and generosity in true Dunstable spirit.

In December 2025, Liz stepped away from her councillor role for a multitude of reasons, holding her head high and ensuring her love for the community would never dwindle. Community is certainly at the heart of everything Liz does, and it is with that deep sense of pride and commitment to residents, businesses and other organisations that Liz has decide to formally move forwards and launch Liz Jones Community Consultancy.
